Our door handle was removed an a new one installed.
If it does you can move ahead if not then there are a couple of steps you have to take.
Before you try to install it line the new door up against the entrance and see if it looks like it will fit.
Install the inside handle.
Insert the lockset tailpieces through the latch bolt and screw the handles together by tightening the retaining screws.
Avoid damage to the screws by using a hand screwdriver.
Unfortunately we didn t notice it until the next day.
We searched high and low for a handle with lock that would work with our door without luck.
If the door is too large for the frame measure the door carefully and then have a professional cut the entrance to fit it.
The new one did not.
Turn each screw several times apiece alternating to stop one screw from binding by being removed further than the other one.
Our old one had a lock.
Install the doorknob 1 measure up the desired height of the door handle from the bottom edge of the door on the edge opposite the hinges using a tape measure.
Typically the knob is centered at 36.
Then install the handle set according to the instructions aligning the spindle with the latch.
Line up the spindle on the back of the handle with the slot in the latch sliding any mechanisms up or down as needed to fit the handle onto the door.
Install a new door lock and door knob by inserting the latch through the hole for the new parts.
If your new door handle attaches to the door at a point below the lower borehole like ours you may need to drill another hole to accommodate.
With the latch assembly in place slide the door handle with the attached cylinder into place.
Add the interior lever rotating the chassis tabs so it slips through the latch and easily joins the handle.
It must line up with the holes in the latch assembly to function properly.
