Putting a lean to on my pole barn want to put a sliding door on one portion and am trying to figure out how all the trim ties together.
How to trim out a pole barn door.
Trim details change based upon manufacturer install trim after wall steel but fasten panels after j trim and hem trim are in place 2x6 frame out is placed so bottom of frame out floor height door height don t forget slab thickness if pour is last outside door jamb is 2x4 inside is 2x4 or 2x6 depending on door size.
Install the trim by nail the longer side of the j to the framing lumber with the washer head metal siding nails.
With the j on the left cut down each bend of the j two places one inch.
Attach the j trim along the line that will form the upper edge of the metal siding.
There s a peg in the top of each door hinge just pull it out or grab a hammer to help knock it out.
The metal siding will slide into the j trim so install the channel with the opening of the j facing the direction of the siding.
Hold the trim so looking at one end the j is visible.
So pretty simple for the rest of the wall steel panels run to the top put your eave trim on and your done.
Once you have the doors off take off all the hardware attached to the door frame.
Bend the wide face of the trim at 90 degrees away from the j one inch below the end you are cutting on.
I didn t build a overhang just 1 of metal roof overhang.
