Scrape off paint with a plastic scraper held at a 45 degree angle.
How to remove paint from walls before tiling.
Scrape the wall to remove any texture and to create a flat surface.
Score the wall with a stanley knife all over the area to be tiled the more heavily the better.
Score the paint into sections using a stanley knife and scraped it of using a standard wall paper scraper.
Use the edge of the scraper to score diagonal lines in the paint.
Start with a scraper.
This will expose edges in the paint shell to make scraping off easier.
Then use a sanding block or sander to rub away the unwanted pain.
One way is to buy the cheapest wettest ready mixed and skim the walls scrape this off while still easy to do and it should pull the paint off with it assuming the paint is emulsion.
And cutting corners at this stage could cost you long term.
Wipe clean with remover after scraping.
If you want to strip the paint off completely as opposed to painting over it you can use a paint scraper to peel off any remaining paint.
There are a couple of ways you can go about vanquishing paint from your walls.
Vacuum to remove dust.
Then give a couple of coats of pva or sbr bond.
To remove paint from drywalls start by cleaning the wall with soap and hot water to remove any dirt or markings from the paint.
Patch any holes or cracks with spackling compound and sand the entire surface with medium grit sandpaper.
Your good to go just make sure the tiling and grouting is done to a very high standard if water is able to pass to the wall you will end up with damp problems.
Scrape away any loose or peeling paint.

Remove any remaining dust oils and grease from the wall with tsp tri sodium phosphate or an ammonia based cleanser.
