In my case you simply pull on the red lever which removes the motor and gear from the track.
Some units will actually reconnect themselves but this is not typically the case.
The emergency release cord is the red rope that hangs.
At that point push the button for the operator and when the trolley meets with the carriage the 2 will be connected.
Garage door openers have a quick release mechanism that allows you to operate the garage door manually in the event you lose power.
You will hear a loud click when the trolley attaches back to the carriage.
