How to open a garage door manually from the inside.
This will reengage the door to the opener system and now the only way to open and close your garage door would be with the power of your opener unit.
Undo this lock and then open the catch to free the door.
To locate the bypass switch look for a red rope hanging down from your garage mechanisms.
If you have any locks on the inside of the garage you will need to undo these as well.
Typically you have to pull the cord straight down or slightly away from the door to disengage the opener.

Locate and pull the cord.
Holding the handle at the end of the cord pull until the release lever locks.
Pulling the cord detaches the garage door from the opener and allows it to open manually.
Disconnect the power cord to the automatic door opener.
By using a clothes hanger and pulling the lever the door can manually be opened.
