How to make a wall light out of galvanized pipe.
These lamps are functional and cheap.
It cost 30 bucks to make one.
And while it looks like it could be complicated it is actually really easy.
Here in part 2 i m going to provide the best tutorial i can for those of you interested in making your own diy plumbing pipe light fixture.
Next with the tub or bucket turned upside down hold the plug end of the lamp wire in hand fish the raw end of the lamp wire through the hole and down inside the bucket.
I ll assume you ll be using the plug and switch method here.
Like so super easy.
Step 3 attach wire to socket.
Before threading through the brass tube split the end of the wire into the two strands.
Cut both your 10 ft.
Carefully insert the prong side of the cord into the remaining pipe nipple and guide the cord through.
The ldr pipes actually come pretty clean though so that was really a nice surprise.
Then take hold of the light socket twist it counterclockwise 1 2 turn and then press firmly into the 1 1 4 bushing another 1 2 turn clockwise.
A few weeks ago on boing boing they showed off some pipe lamps being sold on etsy.
At 200 bucks each i figured i could make my own for a fraction of the cost and have fun doing so.
Wires in fourths and attach them to their respective wires using your fingers or pliers.
I m going to show you how to build the shape of the light fixture but for liability reasons safety concerns and my own peace of mind i prefer not to address the electrical wiring you can consult a pro or find tutorials that cover wiring a light.
