How to level a left hinge storm door.
Install door installation screws from bag c on the outer side of hinge rail.
Check the plumb and levelness of the storm door frame jamb sides and top frame with a 4 foot level.
Remove appropriate hinge from door and jamb.
Now hinging is either left or right and is simply determined by the side you want the storm door hinges to be on.
Do not over tighten screws.
Hold door hinge against cardboard and use utility knife to cut around hinge.
The door will settle approx.
Screw with a drill.
Over time your door may tilt and leave a gap between the door and the fra.
Open the storm door and add the remaining screws to secure the hinge side z bar.
Remove the appropriate hinge often the top hinge and trace and cut out its shape from your shim material.
You have not replaced the hinge pins yet so the door will still need to be supported.
Drive in a 3 in.
Remove screws from the frame and place small wood shims between the frame and rough opening where necessary.
Stick a shim between the door and the frame as in photo 1 tighten the existing screws and drill new screw holes through the frame.
To use this technique remove a screw near the middle of the hinge rather than the top or bottom screw.
Tighten screw while pushing top of hinge rail tight against the door frame.
Add shims between the hinge and the doorjamb.
Determine which hinge must be shimmed to adjust door and create even spacing.
Press lightly as you drill the metal.
Close door and check the spacing at the top and latch side of the door.
Make sure it is plumb and level.
Push door tight against door frame.
Make shims with thin pieces of cardboard wood or playing cards to fit between the hinge and jamb and help align the hinge and door.
Lift up the door and set it onto the hinges.
Level the door to make sure it will open and close correctly and again use the tip of your screwdriver to secure the hinge pins in place.

When the screw is snug against the hinge give the screw another quarter turn with a screwdriver.
With the exterior door closed place the storm door in the opening and push the hinge side up against the jam.

Now a good rule of thumb is that you want the handle of the screen door to be on the same side as the entry door.
Resecure the frame to the rough opening with the retaining screws.
Continue tightening and checking until the door no longer sticks.
